Who We Are

We are an alliance of neighborhood advocates creating an open dialogue about growth, development, infill, housing affordability, and protections for neighborhood character in the city of Bellingham, Washington. We hope to improve community engagement and assure that our voice is heard because we believe neighborhoods are the heart of a community’s healthy future.

We want to:

  • Keep Bellingham Livable
  • Manage our growth for the people, not the Urban Growth Machine profiteers
  • Ensure development reflects the needs of our community, not the needs of non-resident property developers.

We believe neighborhood-based planning is the key to successful outcomes, not top-down, cookie-cutter approaches to planning.

The Bellingham Neighborhood Coalition (BNC) is a key source for information about local planning issues, land use, housing affordability solutions, and most importantly activism.

Our members include residents of Alabama Hill, Birchwood, Downtown, Columbia, Edgemoor, Fairhaven, Happy Valley, Puget, Samish, Sehome, South, South Hill, Sunnyland, and York neighborhoods.

Residents from all neighborhoods are welcome
