Thank you to the 400+ people who signed the Bellingham Neighborhood Coalition's LETTER to the Planning Commission & City Council urging a Vote NO on the detached accessory dwelling unit ordinance. In addition to BNC's one-page letter, we also submitted an 8-page letter with more detail from the BNC Organizing Committee.READ IT HERE
Please plan to ATTEND the hearing -- arrive EARLY if you wish to sign-in and speak. It will be crowded. If you do not have a personal statement ready to present (3-min. max), we are looking for a few people to help read into the record our 8-page letter. RESPONSE: DETERMINATION OF NON-SIGNIFICANCE
Read the BNC's response to the City's DNS on Detached Accessory Dwelling Units. We believe DADUs proposed to be built in all city neighborhoods will have an environmental impact and that an Environmental Impact Study (EIS) is warranted. "Yes, you CAN fight City Hall: Lessons Learned from Seattle" was the theme of our second Public Meeting held Jan. 11 with guest speaker Martin Henry Kaplan, AIA, from Seattle. It was another successful community meeting with 110 attendees and great dialogue. A video is available here.
